History of Hawaiian jewelry

☆History of Hawaiian Jewelry☆

The story of Hawaiian jewelry began in the late 1800's when King Kalakaua visited the Royal Courts of England. (There are many theories)

He was invited to attend Queen Victoria's Jubilee, but sent his wife, Queen Kapiolani, and his sister, Princess Lydia Kamehameha (Liliokalani), the last Queen of the Hawaiian Dynasty, instead.

At the ceremony, Queen Victoria presented Liliokalani with what would become the first Hawaiian bracelet (a bangle engraved with the Hawaiian language). The solid gold design was simple and had intricate lettering, spelling out the name.

The bracelet symbolizes the enduring friendship between the two countries. Liliokalani was so impressed with its style that she requested that more be made for other members of her family. Since she gave Hawaiian jewelry to her loved ones, it became a treasure passed down from generation to generation and loved by many.

The history has continued since then, and the tradition continues today, generation after generation. Hawaiian jewelry is given for special occasions such as birthdays, graduations, and weddings. Heirloom jewelry lasts a lifetime and is passed down from generation to generation. It is considered an honor by some people to receive such a precious personal gift.

Tony Aloha's Hawaiian jewelry is handmade/order-made. Each piece is made with care and attention in our own workshop as a lasting memory. We hope that your Hawaiian jewelry will be passed down with your memories.
